Licia Soldavini holds an MA in Sociology from the Università degli Studi di Trento and an MA in Urban Planning from the Institut Français d’Urbanisme in Paris. During her studies, she devoted herself to the study of civil society initiatives and participation in spatial design, as well as their forms of interaction and collaboration with local authorities, focusing on issues related to the right to the city for youth and migrants. As an ‘Urban Practitioner’ she has developed her practice in collaboration with architectural practices across Europe, gaining skills in interdisciplinary and engaged design. Collaborations include practices such as constructLab (DE), raumlaborberlin (DE), ateliermob (PT), Bruit du Frigo (FR). She has been commissioned by Kunsthaus Graz (Austria), Fondazione Michelangelo Pistoletto (Italy), Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven (Netherlands), Kunsthaus Dresden (Germany), Cabinet of the Mayor of Paris (France), Brussels Region (Belgium), among others. She has been a research assistant at the Institut for History and Theory of Architecture and City, TU Braunschweig, Prof. Tatjana Schneider since December 2018. In her practice and teaching, she is concerned with challenging disciplinary boundaries, making marginal perspectives visible and provoking unexpected encounters in order to explore the transformative potential of critical spatial practice on contemporary urban life.
