On the national scene – in the area of ​​creating costumes and wardrobe for theater, cinema and television – we have been recognizing the steady disappearance of several specialized craftsman and -women in sewing and dress modelation and creation.  Diverse techniques of modeling, repairing and making of costumes became less and less during the last years.

For this reason, the Paredes-Meias cooperative organized, at Laboratorre, 4 workshops where the knoledge of 4 dressmakers/seamstresses/tailors who have performed these functions for many years and have acquired specific knowledge in the construction of costumes, modeling and execution methods and techniques, tricks and old ways of doing things will be transmitted.

The main objective was, to pass on knowledge from the most diverse areas to new generations and to everyone who may be interested.

The activities have been held in Quebrantões, Vila Nova de Gaia, on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th of November. Each participant had to bring his small sewing box, with scissors, a hand sewing needle, pins, a thimble, and other somple tools.
