Lyra Oey crosses the border between the
body, traces, and reproduction. In
the practice of Lyra Oey, the body
is used as an image machine, where spatial traces form the residue of performative acts. These might appear as multi-sensory installations, performances, artist books, graphic prints, or as simple as writings on the wall. As a red line throughout Oey’s practice, games are used as a modus operandi, resulting in an investigation into continuity between and images and variations, playing with
limitation, time, chance, and series.
To question normativity, the one, the right, and an ideal.
Lyra Oey is a co-founder of De Verffabriek, an artist-run organization in Ghent.
